I woke up butt early today, because I have to... its MY LAST DAY! Plus I assumed that the pope would come out really early to come and hang out with me. When I woke up, I found out about daylight savings time and it was even better because I essentially gained that hour of sleep. I went on the net and had breakfast and found out that he would bless me at 10:30. Yes he only pays attention to me, because we are best friends.

Since I had all of that time, I decided to just wait for my Canadian friends (Lucy and Byron) to wake up. They are such an awesome couple. They have been married for over 5 years every single conversation we have is totally great. We go out to eat at really decent restaurants and really live it up. I am so glad I met them and we had such a great time while we were here. My last day in Europe and my trip for that matter... would of been the same without them. Except when they ate the intestines.

They had to check out so it took a little bit, but then we were off to the metro to get over to hang out with papa. Once we were on the metro, it was one of the worst and grossest travel situations I have been in.... but now I am kind of like immune to crazy stuff, so it didn't matter. The metro was packed like pure sardines and it was hot and muggy. Some dude even had the audacity to pull the emergency break to make our lives even more terrible.

Once we got to the Vatican... there were heaps (ozzy term) of people lining up to see the museums because they were free today on the last Sunday of the month. After talking to some people we heard that the Pope would come out at 11. We waited around and I did a logic puzzle that just blew my mind. She was a totally cool nerd that loves these things. They are like a multivariable puzzle where you have to use the most advanced logic in trying to solve a story or situation. I got totally confused at how to cross out possibilities and she helped me out in my lack of logic. I would think I would do good, but I guess I am not that logical of a computer programmer. That was a headache of an experience. Since we found out that we had a few hours still to see him, we did some Vatican shopping and I found a cool gladiator statue that says Roma on it. This coerced me into buying the same kind of shrine photo thing as I bought in Greece. Basically the setup I have is two really nice statues that remind me and then the photo in the middle. It is going to be sweet... maybe I will fill them up with my cubicle to make my coworkers jealous. Once I was done buying some more stuff (an Italia sweatshirt and also a gift for Clingan) it was pope time! He addressed us from his bedroom... because ... for God sakes the man is old. They opened up this window like a mile away and I could barely see him. But it was cool. He blessed the whole crowd... and right now I am wearing blessed underwear believe it or not. He spoke in Latin and afterward we tried to go to the Sistine chapel... but come to find out it was closed because they didn't want to deal with the masses coming in there and checking it out. I will have to leave that checkbox with the Sistine Chapel open and see it next time.

We then we to the Travestere district and had the most amazing and cheap Chinese. I know... it sounds bad... but you really get sick of Italian for Lunch and Dinner everyday. That was wonderful and Byron and Lucy really needed it because they are gong to countries in Ramadan and they cant have much meat for a while.

After that, we had ice cream and I think I bought the Roma picture frame here. We were pretty tired by that point and we headed back to the hostel. It wasn't until around 5 that we made it there. On the way I picked up a 5 dollar nice watch because I lost Susan's watch she got me on my travels (Don't be upset now.... you know how easily I lose them.... that's why from now on.... 5 dollar watches all the way!)

Once I got in to the hostel, I essentially said bye to my good friends that for sure I will be seeing sometime in the future. I then went up to see my other friend who I have kind of been neglecting because she ha just been in bed the whole time in Roma. She (Rachel , the rape preventing friend from Barcelona) has been very sick the whole time. When I saw her tonight, she was feeling better and I asked her to attend this Mozart concert with me. She was totally down for getting out of the room and we were off. We went down and picked up tickets and then had some pretty decent pizza. We got in and basically we found the last possible seats, but somehow we situated them to be very close to the action. Tonight the orchestra was playing Mozart's Requiem. Let me give a brief description. This is one of Mozart's final masterpieces before he died and a requiem is a song for death. So the tone of each piece is very dismal and dark (my favorite). So they started with just the string instruments with an intro. And then the most amazing thing happened. About 100 players came in including brass and winds and also a ton (heaps) of people in the choir. Think of the sound of the main theme song from Star Wars episode One and the dark and chilling choir and that will be the sound (or just wait for me to upload the movies if you don't have an imagination). We got to about the middle of the 1st movement when something else was moved. My heart, mind and soul was moved. I am sitting here listening to the grandeur (spelling?) orchestra, on my last night in Europe, thinking of all the crazy things I have seen, all the great people I have met and all the life issues that will be coming up when I stop procrastinating the inevitable 9 to 5 life. You guys can follow along with some of my journals and get a feel for what I have been through, but you still don't even have a clue. Pictures tell a thousand words, and I have 1000 pictures, so that means out of the total words that equivalate to what you could possibly comprehend is just over a million words (that's if you looked at every photo and read every word in my journal... not perused through with a lawyer skim like some certain people... j/k) Really a million words cant even describe 10 percent of what I experienced out here. All of those feelings and passions that have totally driven this crazy trip just built up. I truly am going to miss this place and this orchestra is just as reflective of everything else in Europe....totally beyond grand. Everything here is pretty amazing. But what I am getting to is this build up of emotions. I was holding it back for as long as possible, but the magnificence of these 100's of people playing the most beautiful music I have ever heard just consumed me and I couldn't hold it back my longer. It was so amazing.... I have never done this in a concert. Rachel saw me, which was fine.... no one has ever seen me in the pinnacle of music as I call it. I have only done that in the car. For me, this only happens once and a while, when a song reminds of something emotional, but I just couldn't contain it. I just have that piece in my mind which can relate to music as an emotional outlet... many people lack that. After the concert (it was very short... an hour) Rachel and I just talked and talked about how amazing of an experience it was. I explained to her why I busted out and I also explained how the root of music is to convey emotions. To put it simple, the orchestra was absolutely breathtaking.... every second and every beat.

After that we wandered back to some of the famous sights again like the Coliseum, Fountain De Trevi and the Tomb of the Unknown. We had great conversation as I had a beer to relax and so it could put me to sleep. It was the perfect ending to the perfect vacation. Thanks for listening throughout this great journey. I have said that a lot.... but I really mean it. Take care guys. Call me when I get home tomorrow.
