Original Memory Interview Question

What do you remember from High School Football games? Were you in the band or were you a cheerleader or a football player or a spectator? Was there glory or defeat on your home turf?

His Response:

High School football games were definitely something very special to me.

Being a sweet trumpet in the marching band we would obviously be tucked in the right hand corner of the track, playing lots of cheery tunes when something good happens.

But some of the greatest memories occured in between the 3rd and 4th quarter. Where the band would do "the mosh."

The mosh would be exactly how you would envision it, a huge pit of dorky bandos pushing each other like the Deftones or Tool was on stage. The drummers would be playing a passionate beat as we beat the crap outta each other. (they eventually stopped it so no one would get hurt)

I loved playing at half time too. It was so much fun.

Boy things will never be the same and those events were once in a lifetime events. I had a lot of fun in high school.

Anyone who is still in high school reading this, cherish the fun times you have with your classmates in high school. Cause even if you come back to watch a game, its just not the same.....

Her Response:

I loved our football games!!! We had an awesome band and I had a lot of friends on the team that I was cheering on.

My first big memory was of the team making the playoffs my senior year. I had to miss the game, though, because we had cross country regionals that day. Rembert Parker hassled me endlessly for that.

My second big memory was being up in the press box spotting the plays for Chris Taylor's dad, Zip. I felt really cool being up there.

Original Memory Interview Question

Did you receive any significant awards or recognitions in high school?

Her Response:

I rocked it out my junior year in track and cross country! I was captain of both teams, and I received tons of medals for placing. I think I have 23 total from all of high school. I think this was the year I was MVP for the track team.

My senior year was awesome too! I was metro-detroit high school athlete of the week for which I got a nice plaque and was interviewed on WJR radio. Then in volleyball I got an award for being MHSAA scholar athlete. Then there was the ultimate award... I got the Most Athletic female award for the whole school! That was an exciting night!

Original Memory Interview Question

What kind of competitions did you attend in high school? Do you have any interesting memories that occurred at these?

Her Response:

I love, loved, loved the Saturday cross country invitationals! Chris Avery's parents would always bring us bagels, and we would all chill out around the little tent Pachla would set up. It was fun goofing around during warm-ups, especially Junior year when we had Jeremy J. and Josh. The one I hated, though, was Walled Lake Western. There was this stupid Mega-Hill that you had to run up like 3 or 4 times because you did laps around this park. The worst part about it was that Pachla took us to Alpine Valley Ski Lodge to run up the ski hills for practice. YUCK!
