I remember selling different things for like 50 cents to a dollar in elementary school.

Two types of things that I can remember selling on the streets were bags of sugar.  But this was just just any kind of sugar.  It was laced with all kinds of kool-aid.  I guess you can call me the drug dealers at Burt or something.  I didnt sell much of it.  Mostly just ate it all by myself.

I also remember making guns out of construction paper and selling them to a few kids here and there.  They would be intertwined with rubber bands and would actually shoot stuff out.  I know for a fact I sold one of them for 2 dollars to bobby wright.  He pooped his pants in 5th grade and I had to sit next to him in the choir.  Good times, good times.

I don't know if you remember this or not Kev, but I never got to thank you for this and what better a time than now?
My father passed away and my mom didn't want me to go to the funeral home again... I wasn't handling it well. I don't remember exactly how it ended up, but my pal Kevin came over to my house instead of me having to go to the 3rd viewing. We had a great time. We played hide and seek, whoever was watching us made grilled cheese, and I taught Kevin how to roll up in a blanket like a cacoon, so we could see who could walk farther all bundled up. I'm pretty sure he won.
Anyway, it was just a good day in the midst of several very bad, and having a friend around to distract me for just that short time was very comforting and calming. Dispite all those silly people we become later in life I never did forget this random act of kindness. Thanks buuuddy!

When my younger brother Sean was a little kid he always likedto catch things outside. He was really big into catching bugs and turtles and frogs. Well I remember when he caught this huge bull frog back in the swamp behind the house about as big around as a basketball. To this day it is the biggest frog that I've seen. Well he holding the frog with two hands and showing it off to everyone "look what I caught!" Well all of a sudden the frog started to pee all over Sean's hands. "eeewwwww". I think that's when he let the frog go back to the swamp.

A long time ago, before I could be left alone, David was always was hired to babysit us. We always had fun doing pretty much anything. One of the most fun things we ever did involved a plastic car in which us little kids could fit into.

We would get in and David would push us all around the yard or drive-way. It was great fun. We would be out there all day until my parents got home.

Those same plastic cars still are here. The neighbors have two little kids that come over and will play in them. It reminds me of these old days, expecialy when I push them around in those little plastic cars.

Not too long ago I tried to fit into one of those cars. I failed and it was sort of hard to get out, but fun non the less.

I used to be a "Shirley Temple" and "Annie" impersonator at a place called "MR. F's when I was 8 years old.

"MR. F's" was a fancy restaurant that had a stage in their Main Dining room. People would pay an egregious amount of money to eat dinner and watch their favorite "celebrities"perform. Some of the impersonators included, Kenny Rogers, Elvis Presley, Neil Diamond, and Diana Ross. They always brought me up near the finale and I wouldn't get done until around 10 o'clock at night... which wasn't good for a kid my age, especially on a school night.

Anyway, I got a paycheck every week, but I have no idea how much I made. I think it was something like $500 a week, which is pretty darn good.

The guy who owned the restaurant (who happened to be the Kenny Rogers impersonator) was going through a divorce and since his wife owned half of the restaurant. She decided to close it down.

One night, my mom and I showed up to "MR. F's" for one of the shows and all the doors were locked. I . . . Read More..
