One time I spent the night at my friend Chris' house on a friday night. He was my best friend all throughout middle school, but this idea of ours to hang out turned out to be a life changing event for both of us.

We both we kind of sick and both had some kind of flu or something on this particular friday night and we did our usual stuff like play Super Nintendo into the wee hours of the night.

But that night something really messed up happened.  I had a Grand Maul Seizure in his house.  The reason I had one was because I was recently weened off of my medication.

Basically I was in a dream and I vividly remember falling from a cliff.  At this point in reality physically fell off the couch.  In my dream I hit the ground and I remember feeling like I was on fire.  Most doctors can tell you that you never feel anything when you have a Seizure, but I can tell you that it was the worst pain in my life and in my dream I was screaming and crying.

This one time I did a demo of an online Karaoke Machine that I developed for a competition. The demo was for my Cousin Beth and one of the most beautiful songs that she sings. The song is called "Here With You" (WATCH HER VIDEO).

I used one of her songs off of her unbelievable debut CD which is basically the most amazing piece of artwork in the entire world!. I demoed this web application that would sync up lyrics with any MP3 and would display the lyrics following what the actual singer was singing.

I demoed it in front of all of my Aunts and Uncles. I thought something great would come of it and I even won 1000 dollars in a technology competition.

But memorycrawler is my most innovative piece of work to date.

Happy crawling.

It was probably late winter or a January thaw when Austin, some other friends, and I visited "Greenland". This was a part of the fields that was marshy and we could never really explore. I can't recall why we called it Greenland. Since it was winter, we thought we could explore it by walking on the ice.

Someone threw something out into the middle of the ice and I walked out to get it carefully. Unfortunately, the ice was too thin and I fell through. The good thing was that the water was only about waist deep so I was able to come running and screaming out. I ran all the way home and my mom helped me take off my pants and warm up. I think we put my legs in warm water and had some hot cocoa or something. I'm not sure if we ever visited Greenland after that.

Frank Mantooth was a genius of the 20th century that most people never even knew of. People remember a Miles Davis, or a John Coltrane, or a Charlie Parker... but "people" don't remember a Frank Mantooth; and that, I assure you, is a very sad thing.

I was very fortunate, my time spent in the MTU Jazz band (despite it being a tech university) allowed me to meet/play with some amazing heroes of mine in Jazz. Bela Fleck, Victor Wooten, Wynton and Branford Marsalis. However, in february of 2003 I played with a name I had never heard before.

The Frank Mantooth quartet with guest Byron Stripling (one of the jazz masters of michigan) rolled in to town; and unlike some of the other performers we'd host, they immediately wanted to go out and hit the bar and hang with the band. We raided The Library (one of our favorite local pubs) and took it over for a good 4 hours. I feel bad for not remembering the drummers name, but Frank and Kim Park (the saxophone player) were a . . . Read More..

One day at recess, these boys were taunting me and my friends.

They had built a fort out of snow and were throwing snowballs at us and calling us names.  I decided that I was going to be brave and run over to steal some of their snowballs.  I started to run and one of the boys ran after me.  He started beating me up pretty bad.  The lunch lady saw this and decided to tell on us.  I ended up getting in trouble.  I don't remember what my punishment was, but I remember that it was very unfair..  Besides, HE started it!!
