At the regional meet my junior year was the only meet of the season that you can qualify for state finals and I was planning on making it with my 4x400 team.  We were very close to getting that time and place to make it, but something else happened that was far greater.  My 4x800 team pulled the fastest time ever at Mott and we broke the school record and made it to state finals!

The way we accomplished this was totally random.  All we set out to do was to stay behind the Walled Lake Western team the whole race and thats exactly what happened.  Our previous times werent even close to breaking the school record and we dropped our time that day by 20 seconds.

I remember we were doing a video in my class about the planets. We went outside and each person was teamed up with someone else. Each team represented a planet or the sun. We lined up outside the high school away from each other proportional to the distance between the planets. The video camera would come to each team and they would say what planet they were and give some facts. My team member was Jeff Williams. I do not remember what our planet was. I do remember that, as the video camera went to the next planet, I screamed "Mortal Kombat!" The movie trailers were out at the time and someone screams that at the end.

My senior year at Oakland, everyone in my full ride scholarship program
needed to compete with each other by developing some kind of new
technology or business idea. The competition was called the Innovative
Competition and I worked with one of the smartest people I knew in
college ( Andy Baker). It had a 1st prize of 1000 dollars and was
judged by faculty, alumni and people from corporations.


I had been thinking about this project for more than a year before I
came up with the final idea. I crossed out a proof of concept that
would send emails via voice phone calls as well as crossed out some

Our high school band had a competition in Tennessee and we all spent our spring break there I think our Junior year.

I cant remember the exact city we were in for the competition, but one thing I do remember was going up to a gun and knife store and buying a chinese star.

Eventually we brought it back to the hotel and threw it at the wall a bunch of times. 

It was a lot of fun, but we definitely could have gotten charged for it.  It was pretty dumb to throw it at the wall.

But it was really cool how it stuck to it with precision.

I don't know if you remember this or not Kev, but I never got to thank you for this and what better a time than now?
My father passed away and my mom didn't want me to go to the funeral home again... I wasn't handling it well. I don't remember exactly how it ended up, but my pal Kevin came over to my house instead of me having to go to the 3rd viewing. We had a great time. We played hide and seek, whoever was watching us made grilled cheese, and I taught Kevin how to roll up in a blanket like a cacoon, so we could see who could walk farther all bundled up. I'm pretty sure he won.
Anyway, it was just a good day in the midst of several very bad, and having a friend around to distract me for just that short time was very comforting and calming. Dispite all those silly people we become later in life I never did forget this random act of kindness. Thanks buuuddy!
