When I was about 11 years old me and my life-long best friend, Jaime, thought it would be a fantastic idea to make a time capsule, and fill it with all the little sentimental objects from out childhood (things like baby bracelets, photographs, little toys, even my old blankie!) and we also wrote letters to eachother, saying how we loved being best friends, and we'd always stay "friends forever" (It was probably the nicest letter I've ever written anyone).
We wrapped it up and buried it one afternoon in my backyard, next to this big tree that was there at the time.
I remember we made a pact, that in 10 years time when we were 21 we would come back and unearth it, and remember the days of our childhood...
But time went on, and soon we forgot about the time capsule...
About 3 years ago we got an extention built onto the back of our house, and alas, we didn't remember the time capsule until maybe a year later.
Our house now lies over our capsule, (I'm pretty sure it's . . . Read More..

Original Memory Interview Question

What do you remember about the first few years of elementary school?

Her Response:

I remember my first day at school. I'd just moved to the area, and so I hadn't gone to any of the pre-schools that the kids at my school went to, so I knew no-one! I remember our teacher let us go and explore our classroom, and I saw this girl (Jaime) and ran up to her, and asked her if we could be friends. She said "NO! Amy Dempster's my friend." and walked off. I was heartbroken. But then at recess, Jaime came up to me and asked me "What's your favourite sandwich?" and I said "peanut butter" (even though my favourite was vegemite) and she said "Ok, we can be friends" because her favourite was peanut butter.
And that was the start of a life-long best-friend relationship...

Original Memory Interview Question

Do you remember any assemblies that your elementary School held?

Her Response:

I remember our Primary School used to have weekly assemblies, in front of the whole school. I remember that if it was your birthday, you could go up and say into the microphone your name and how old you were...
I remember my brother, when he started in Prep (the very first year), he would go up every week, and say it was his birthday.
What was the funniest, was that sometimes the Principal (she held the microphone) would ask him what he did to celebrate, and he'd make up elaborate stories to go along with his imaginary birthdays.
