Here's the story behind my username.  I think it was Derek Conrad that started calling me "Nalel".  Then it turned into "Lel".  And now Dave calls me lellel.  I used to call Kevin "Keevinalel".

Kevin and I used to make weird noises.  We used to say "yiyiyi".  We called this the Dane Fife mating call.  Dane was my childhood bully so it was our dorky way of getting back it him (behind his back).  We used to make this weird noise that happens when you smack your tongue against your bottom lip and make this distorted face.  I will have to find a picture of one of us making the face - I know they are out there as we did it often.

Recently I started using the word "Nalel" again.  It cracks my friend Sabrina up every time that I say it.  I say it like this "Naaaalel" and make a funny face.

I vividly remember hanging out with my Best Friend Nick for the first time. We mostly just goofed off all day up in his upstairs bedroom. And right away he had to show off how he wrestled with his dog Domino. I basically was ended up crying I was laughing soo hard at him.

I think later that day we played some Atari Games like Knight Rider and maybe even some kind of board games.

This was probably one of the first times I had ever spent the night at other peoples houses. At night, we would have to be super quiet and not even a mouse fart would be heard upstairs because he didnt want to wake his parents.

We mostly talked about girls that night. But I really miss those good old days with my Best Friend Nick

I remember many times going to Tigers games when Dan and I were kids.  Dan and I were huge baseball collectors and card collectors at the time so we knew everyone on the tigers in the Late 80's and early 90's.

Some of our favorites were people like Alan Trammell, Paul Gibson,Lou Whitaker,
Chet Lemon, Travis Fryman and Cecil Fielder.

Cecil Fielder was my absolute favorite because there was some hype about him breaking Babe Ruth's home run record.  He did accomplish that and I felt like I knew a star athlete and I was also happy because all of his cards went up in value.

After 1990, many people out did him, but I feel that they did it with drug enhancing help.

I really appreciate my parents being able to take us to the ball game.

I loved the ambiance.  I remember having my parents buy me this huge cardboard tiger arm that we would could use.  There is just something about a ball game that really defines America.

My children will also be going to lots of Tigers . . . Read More..

Back in the day, Chris Shea, Adam Lamb, Austin Moening and I built a 4-story tree fort in the fields by my backyard. It started as a 1-story fort but we could not resist the urge to continue to build higher on the perfectly-suited tree. It was a majestic thing with a superfluance of nails.

The first level was enclosed in plywood and the second and third levels were just floors made of 2 x 4s. The fourth floor was more like a ceiling or roof. There were no guard rails on the fourth floor and it was very high up and kind of scary. It was one of the triumphant accomplishments of my youth. Me and Shea hung out there a lot--and yet--I don't have a single picture to prove it.

Update: I found a picture of us on the fort but it is at night and all you can see is a 2x4.  I was talking with Chris the other day and he said that my aunt took a picture of us all on the fort.  I will have to search my parents' albums for that photo.  Dave, when can I borrow that document feed scanner?

I was the second youngest of six children. My Dad had the most contagious laugh. He died twenty five years ago. But he had one or two funny stories he would tell about each of us kids. He had two stories about me. He waould laugh and laugh about them. They both took place when I was about three. My parents took all six of us kids to a drive-in movie in our station wagon. My dad said everyone was quietly enjoying the movie when they heard a small voice from the back seat say "Heads heads thousands of heads."
The other incident happened when I answered the front door one afternoon and a friend of my parents asked if my mother was at home, I called for her. He struck up a conversation and asked if I had a kitty. "No" I replied. "Do you have a Dog?" he asked. "No", I replied, "all we have are six sick kids!" I think we all had colds or the flu or something. It doesn't seem that funny as I type it, but it makes me chuckle to think how my dad laughed and laughed about it.
